About PDO

Pro-Duffers Orlando Chapter was formally organized in 2009 with 15 Founding Members. Our mission is to promote and encourage interest and participation in the game of golf. We believe the brotherhood our organization fosters and the relationships we build will produce a lasting positive effect within our community. We also seek to serve as mentors and help create avenues for area youth to excel not only in golf but in all phases of life.

In 2013, the chapter grew to 70 members through recruiting efforts and word of mouth. Since then, our focus has been on building quality membership and to put in place a signature golf event that will produce significant dollars that can be donated to our charities of choice.

 BECOME A MEMBER

The chapter has two play dates each week on Tuesday and Thursday. In addition, we do a Club Championship each year, which has garnered the interest of our membership. We continue to try to build interest in both the Pro-Duffers USA Spring Fling and National Tournament. The objective is to have respectable representation at both events each year.

Our field of golfers will be divided into flights based on the individuals established handicap. As part of your membership, PDO will setup your handicap index through the Florida State Golf Association (FSGA) and in accordance with the United States Golf Association (USGA).

Each outing will also have its own set of competitions and rules based on the field of golfers, the flight and the course as disclosed by the outing coordinators. Whether you are a scratch golfer or a beginner, our outings are aimed to make an enjoyable experience for all of our members and guests.

The Pro-Duffers Orlando Foundation, Inc. was established to help carry out the mission of Pro-Duffers Orlando through our fundraising efforts. We will make charitable donations to non-profit entities that align with PDO’s mission. In doing so, the Foundation’s mission is:

  • To enhance the lives of local community youth by promoting the game of golf in central Florida
  • To assist junior golfers of various skill levels in participating in all aspects of the game
  • To create opportunities for junior golfers to improve their quality of life through participation in various golf activities

One way we raise funds is through our Pro-Duffers Orlando Foundation, Inc. Golf Tournament. Our inaugural event took place on May 19, 2014 at Orange County National. Proceeds from our first event benefited Tee-Lo Golf, Inc. and Rebecca’s Garden of Hope.

Since then, we have added a Turkey and Bicycle giveaway for area families in need for the Christmas holiday and we have contributed extensively to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. We extend our sincere thanks to all of those who help make these events successful ones for our Foundation, our organization and ultimately for our community benefactors.

We are guided by a Chapter Leadership Team, which conducts the business of the chapter and puts issues to be voted on before the membership. It is through their efforts, and the participation of our great members, that helps us be successful.
